and Entertainer Lovell Buchanan can be at your school presenting The Magic
of Believing. An educational hands on workshop for elementary
students. A positive and highly motivational program utilizing magic
to provide students with important educational concepts. The
importance of problem solving, hard work, practice, and learning are
illustrated by utilizing the art of magic. As the students master
many tricks their self-esteem is also raised to believe in their
abilities, dreams, and future goals. A professional program Lovell
has 30 years teaching experience with a teaching degree in education.

Mr. Lovell Buchanan (Professor Fun)
presented his Magic Seminar to our third graders. This
presentation culminated our thematic unit on magic and magicians.
I am recommending that you consider Professor Fun's seminar for the
following reasons:
- The seminar is educationally sound;
students are taught several simple magic tricks which they can
perform for family and friends. Intertwined in the
presentation are tricks of a more professional nature which are
not explained. These leave students thinking, questioning,
and discussing as they attempt to solve the mysteries.
- Over and over the students are heard
asking, "How did you do that?" Professor Fun answers, "I
work hard and I practice, practice and practice. The same
will hold true for you as you identify your goals and seek to
achieve them." What an excellent way to exemplify this
concept.
- One of Mr. Buchanan's underlying goals
for his seminars is the raising of the students' self-esteem.
Students are thrilled and confident as they leave the seminar with
a few magic tricks to perform for others. The tricks are
easily learned because of the presenter's respect for his audience
and his ability to tailor his presentation to the instructional
needs of the age level with which he is working. A packet of
instructions for each trick is also made available so that
students may refine their skills if they wish.
It has become the high point of our own
magic theme. Students are entertained, informed and inspired.
